Class of 2018
Your tour guides — CC Lockwood, Doug Hansgate, and Steve Uffman — agree that our success will be measured by your success. This is our backyard where we spend a great deal of time and we want to do everything we can to help you get the most out of the tour and go home with spectacular images.
From lighting on locations to the final touch of digital processing, join Doug Hansgate for a photographic weekend getaway in Upstate NY in August!
Photographing beautiful models with the background of grand splendor of Niagara Falls to shooting inside a magnificent church turned into an amazing studio and photographing our model in urban edgy scenes with amazing twilight.
Learn lighting from a lighting guru! Doug will show you how to navigate the ascetics of photography. This is a practical hands-on shooting workshop exploring creativity, light and nature. Setting up light on locations, learning how to pose models, using different lighting modifiers to see the quality of light and learn the art of digital post process to perfection.
Join Doug for three unforgettable days kayaking in some of his favorite places in the swamps of Louisiana.
You will explore hidden bayous and well-known locations in an up close and personal view of nature. There is nothing that compares to being able to quietly slip in amongst birds in their habitat. Using some of the most stable kayaks available, Doug will show you not only how to stay safe and comfortable on the water, he will also show you how to enter an environment with minimal disturbance. Only then can you capture those moments that we all treasure.
When you're not on the water, Doug will take you on a journey of some high-end editing techniques and will show you how to navigate the aesthetics of photography. This is a practical, hands-on shooting workshop exploring creativity, light and nature. If you have ever wanted to create more than what your camera captures and create what your mind sees and feels, this is the exploration for you. Doug has spent decades exploring light and shadow and now teaches extensively on Imagery to Artistry — the concept of taking your imagery to new levels of realism and creativity.
Doug has been shooting professionally and with distinction for over 35 years. His creative approach to photography, coupled with his ability to see and capture light, permeates his impressive body of work. His love of photography and the outdoors has taken him all over the US and Canada. He brings an artist’s eye and a scientist’s understanding of his surroundings. Born in Upstate NY, his love for wildlife and knowledge of their habits is only tempered by his love for photography. He travels extensively teaching at conferences and workshops internationally. If you are a photographer, you simply have to learn to be efficient in Lightroom — A program that was designed from the ground up to used by photographers. This is simply the best solution available for file management, efficiency and overall control of your images. This Lightroom™ class will teach you how to maximize your work-flow and create a systematic approach to all your digital imagery. There are systems that have been proven effective to rapidly and succinctly process large project shoots (weddings, etc.) into manageable client-based results. I’ll show you the shortcuts and methods that work. Take a journey of editing that will open your eyes to the true potential of Ligthroom™ editing, well beyond what most users ever dream of. Part of my Imagery to Artistry series this class is a favorite of attendees everywhere.
If you are interested in expanding your art. Developing into an artist that provides more to your client than an image, then this may be the class for you. You will learn to create new and compelling work by manipulating your images with digital paint.
Learn to explore light in a whole new way. As an oil painter you are taught to add and subtract light from your subjects with the addition of paint. Let me show you how to take that skill set and more to create truly unique images from your own photographic images.
